Western Thessaly during the Late Bronze Age. Continuities and Discontinuities

Τhis doctoral dissertation, submitted to the Department of History and Archaeology, Faculty of Philosophy, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, deals with the role of western Thessaly during the Late Bronze Age. The already known sites are presented in a centralized and systematic way, as well as elements (excavation findings - architectonic elements - artefacts), which have emerged from the research of recent years and which have not been published until now. Particular importance was given to pottery because it contributes significantly to the understanding of the stratigraphy and the attempt to create a chronological sequence of the region. In additional, variations in pottery and the number of vessels listed help to understand contacts and trade relations. In order to understand the position of western Thessaly in the Mycenaean world, during the Late Bronze Age, special emphasis is given on social organization and Symbols of power as well as cultural contacts and communication routes.
