Study of tissue cancer markers in Renal cell carcinoma
Summary:
We studied with the method of fluorescence In situ hybridization the number of copies of the gene of HER2 oncoprotein ( A Tyrosine Kinase Receptor) , which Is like Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor,we studied it in renal cell neoplasms and in this different types of renal cell cancer cases the method of fluorescence In situ hybridization was used on Chromosome 7 and quantitive determination of the HER2 gene was done and showed no Increase of the HER2 genome . The ratio between red signals on HER2/c-erb gene area and green signals on the centromere of Chromosome 7 was 1 in all the slides that were studied .There was no increase and there was normal genome of HER2/NEU gene and/or no overexpression of the protein HER2 in all slides that were studied with the method of fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH). In the studied samples the ratio HER2/CEN1 Was 1.At the same time we studied In common and in rare renal cell cancer cases the expression of B- Catenin with the technique of immunohistochemistry which was specific for B-Catenin where was ascertained that all the studied samples where positive for the overexpression of B-Catenin In cytoplasm and cell membrane .The study of the stained samples from removed kidneys showed that in all cases of renal cancer B-Catenin was increased compared to the surrounding the tumor healthy tissue. One of the molecular mechanisms which was involvded and has an important role in renal cancer formation is the disregulation of WNT signalling pathway as it Is reflected by the abnormal expression of the B Catenin our research suggests Involvment of B-Catenin In cancer development . Cancer Biomarkers have many uses In oncology like determining the relative risk for a disease , screening the population for a specific disease , in the differential diagnosis of the disease , determening the prognosis of the disease , predicting the response to treatment , following the physical process of the disease . Due to the important role that molecular biomarkers have in all the stages of the diseases and the great availability of information it is important for the clinical doctors and the SCscientists to have a thorough understanding of the biomarkers and their develompment so they can reach to a conclusion if a biomarker is possible to be used in care of patients and In which context can be used or if further evaluation is needed before is applied In everyday medical clinical practice.
