Summary:
In our country, the multitude of existing legislation, but also the pace at which it
evolves, leads to difficulties in terms of monitoring it and confusion as to what is in
force at any given time. Concerning the educational legislation, the situation is similar,
and the difficulties increase when the recipients, i.e. teachers, do not have the necessary
familiarity to constantly monitor the developments and face many different and often
conflicting laws. The purpose of this study is to investigate the level of legal literacy of
primary school teachers in our country, and whether they consider the knowledge of
educational legislation useful. Τhe quantitative research method was used for the
purposes of the study. The results showed that the participants had a remarkable
knowledge of the areas of educational legislation, but, nevertheless, there is room for
improvement and they would be more confident if they had more knowledge. In any
case, they consider knowledge of educational legislation to be essential for their work.
