Summary:
The purpose of this thesis is the critical edition of the work "Eight dances from Greek islands for two pianos" by Yannis Constantinidis. The primary goal is the greatest possible accuracy according to the original text. Any differentiation other than the nessesery corrections, is made for the performers and scholars facilitation. The sources used for the critical edition are: the existing published edition (Papagrigoriou – Nakas, 1993), an unpublished manuscrip from Papagrigoriou - Nakas archive and the original version of the work for solo piano. Furthermore, biografical elements of the composer's life and work will be presented, as also historical context for the work itself and the critical notes.
