Lifetime measurements in the vicinity of magic tin isotopes
Summary:
The region of nuclei with atomic number close to Z = 50 presents intense interest,
mainly due to the closure of the proton shell at this number. The isotopes of
tellurium (Te) examined in this case have Z = 52, and with two protons above the
magic number, they exhibit special experimental and theoretical significance for
study. In this work, an experimental study of the half-lives of Te and Sb isotopes
was carried out at the 9 MV Tandem Accelerator Laboratory (IFIN-HH) in Romania.
A beam of 11B ions at an energy of 35 MeV was used, bombarding a natural Ag
target. The emitted radiation from the nuclear reaction was measured using the
gamma-ray array ROSPHERE and the particle detector SORCERER. Measurements
of half-lives at states participating in the decay chains Te -> Sb -> Sn were performed
using the activation method providing information about these isotopes.
The results are compared with existing measurements conducted using a different
methodology.
