Countering international terrorism through multilateral cooperation: a critical approach to UN practice
Summary:
International terrorism constitutes one of the most critical challenges to international security, prompting respective efforts by the international community through multilateral frameworks and institutions. In particular, this thesis attempts to critically evaluate the role and contribution of the United Nations in countering terrorism. Through an analysis of the Organization's strategic approach, resolutions and policies, this essay explores the evolution, strengths and limitations of the UN's broader counterterrorism practice. In terms of results, as this paper shows, the success of the UN's efforts in this direction is considered rather ambiguous.
