THE TEACHINH OF AGIOS NEKTARIOS ABOUT ILLNESS
Summary:
he purpose of this thesis is to examine the teaching of Saint Nektarios regarding the issue of illness. The starting point of the work is the concept of illness conceptually and theologically. Saint Nektarios in his rich written work refers to the issue of illness, physical and spiritual, which he calls moral illness. Faithful to the paternal tradition, he first approaches it as a result of man's fall from the heavenly state. The psychosomatic unity of man is the basis on which he rests to establish the interaction of moral illness with physical illness. God's pedagogy, man's faith in God's life-giving energy, trust in medical science as God's gift to man in his transitional path, but also the pastoral approach to illness are some of the aspects of the issue found in his teaching of St. Nektarios that can serve modern man as indicators of life and treatment of illness.
