Summary:
Nowadays, the climate crisis is an issue of high importance and increased interest to the universal scientific community. Its causes are widely known and its effects are particularly tragic. As a result, meanings such as the climate crisis, climate change and global warming have been included in our daily vocabulary worldwide. Moreover, it affects the tension and frequency of natural disasters. The extended heat waves, fires, floorings, the melting of ices, the extinction of various species as well as the loss of biodiversity are all results of the same phenomenon and show us that the threat of the climate crisis is apparent all around us. The Fire Brigade, as the operational arm of the Civil Protection of each country, is responsible for the dealing with this extremely dangerous phenomenon. Actually, the new conditions, which prevail in the field, in combination with the tragic consequences are of great importance, as they affect the firefighters’ operational work.
As a matter of fact, it refers to a complicated problem which afflicts various social sectors. Without any doubt, it constitutes a new reality with the future scenarios of predicting the climate conditions being really worrying. This particular project tries to analyze the phenomenon of climate crisis, the rate and the way it affects natural disasters, as well as the significant role of the Fire Brigade towards this important issue. To sum up, taking all the above mentioned into consideration, data were collected and analyzed, as well as quantitative information from Services, Authorities and different Organizations, as far as the factors related to the natural disasters, the climate crisis and the impartial description of the new order prevailing in our country are concerned.
