Comparative analysis of the US strategy in the Cuban and Ukrainian crises through the political discourse of John F. Kennedy and Joe Biden
Summary:
This paper aims to highlight American presidential rhetoric as a key factor in the redistribution of power in both the 1962 missile crisis and the Ukraine war. A key element of this rhetoric, which this thesis aims to highlight, is the timelessness of its main themes, i.e. anti-Russian sentiment (either in the form of anti-communism, or in the form of opposition to authoritarianism) and the "messianic" role of the US as the defender and preserver of freedom and democracy worldwide.
Therefore, the aim of this paper is to prove, with the help of discourse analysis methodology and within the framework of Systemic Geopolitical Analysis, that the rhetoric of the two presidents, Kennedy and Biden, despite the basic differences between due to the passage of decades and the consequent change in historical conditions, they are possessed by the same logic and the same goals.
The result of this is that we can now talk about the return of Cold War rhetoric, three decades after the official end of the Cold War. So, we will try to highlight how this rhetoric exerts a key geopolitical influence on both complexes under study, that is, Cuba and Ukraine.
Therefore, the expected result of the present diplomacy is the construction of a geopolitical model of trends in the redistribution of power. This model will reflect the redistribution of power in both of the aforementioned geopolitical systems. The analysis of the action and operation of the Geopolitical Factor will be carried out on the "Culture/Information" power pillar.
