The impact of the presence of placenta previa to patients with deep infiltrating endometriosis - literature review

The present literature review aims to investigate the impact of the presence of a prodromal placenta in patients with deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE). A prodromal placenta is a complication of pregnancy characterized by a placenta partially or completely covering the internal cervical os, and DIE is a severe form of endometriosis that affects approximately 20% of women with the condition. The possible association between DIE and prolapsed placenta has gained increasing attention in recent years due to its implications for clinical practice and pregnancy outcomes. This review includes a comprehensive exploration of the current literature on DIE, placenta previa and the potential association between these conditions. The methodology includes a detailed search strategy, specific inclusion and exclusion criteria for study selection and data extraction. The findings of this review are intended to contribute to ongoing efforts to improve the management of pregnant women with a medical history of DIE and to minimize the risks associated with placenta previa. In addition, the review identifies current gaps in knowledge and provides recommendations for future research in this area.
