Children-students with disabilities and domestic animals and the contribution of animal assisted therapy.
Summary:
We all know how beneficial the company of a domestic animal is for people. Research show
that the care and company of these animals can decrease stress and pressure and have positive
effect to the health of their owners. The love and commitment that animals show, without
expecting some exchange, make people better. Nowadays cities are getting larger, people are
distanced from nature and are isolated. The companion of a domestic animal gets as in contact
with nature from which we have been rootless. In addition, old people along, without someone
to take care, they give up from life and get depressed but with the companion of a pet, they find
again the meaning of life.
But how domestic animals interfere with children and especially with children who have
learning difficulties, diseases, or disabilities? In this essay my target is to search how animals
can have an effect to these children and how the children react to their presents. I will study
more the role that Animal Therapy or Animal Assisted Therapy can play to the improvement
of the behaviour, health, and phycology of these children. At the end I will conclude if pets
and, or pets’ therapy are behoved for these children.
