Online activities of children and adolescent boys with ADHD: A literature review
Summary:
This thesis aims to clarify the relationship between Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and the use of the Internet in children and adolescents. More specifically, to investigate the topic, the literature review was followed in four online databases (PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar and Science Direct) and the necessary keywords were used, from which researches emerged based on the inclusion and limitation criteria that had been defined. This literature showed that children and adolescents with ADHD spend more hours on the internet and their main occupation are online games and social media. In fact, boys prefer gaming, while girls prefer social media. Also, were highlighted the effects of the increased use of the internet on the daily life of children and adolescents with ADHD. In conclusion, there is a correlation between ADHD and internet use. The results could form the basis for further studies and for interventions concerning the appropriate use of the internet.
