Summary:
The aim of this work is to present health issues and the suffering of sheep (mothers, lambs) from infections, how these diseases participate in the increase of death rates, as well as in the change in its growth body condition of these animals.
The subject analyzed in this particular thesis is concerned with how the well-being and welfare of agricultural production animals is affected in livestock holdings (herds, farms, units), specifically of ewes and their lambs from infectious diseases originating from pathogens, micro-organisms (e.g. bacteria).
More specifically they are analyzed for certain diseases that adversely affect the well-being of mothers during pregnancy, after lambing and during the lactation period of their little ones. Such diseases transmitted to newborns from their mothers are also recorded in neonatal lambs up to the age of three weeks causing serious effects on their health.
Furthermore, this work also includes various well-being indicators, such as mortality indicators and growth indicators in lambs and ewes.
