The Role of Social Capital in the Transition from Education to the Labor Market for Second-Generation Albanian Immigrants
Summary:
The aim of this thesis is to investigate the role of social capital on the Albanian second-generation immigrant workers. An important issue is to identify the different types of social capital that the Albanian second-generation immigrant workers usually generate from their participation in communities that include citizens with high social capital accumulation. Moreover, a great issue is the comparison between both the younger Albanians, Greeks, and older Albanians, in terms of education, work and income, in relation to the type of social capital that each of these groups uses before and after the eurozone crisis. Given the institutional problems of our country, it was found that the second-generation Albanians are willing to do better than their ancestors and to participate in social life on equal terms next to their Greek peers.
