Summary:
The banking industry has always been a pioneer in the adoption of innovative technologies as well as business methods. The peculiarity of banks is that although they are essentially profit-seeking businesses, the functions they perform in the economy go beyond the boundaries of their sector and even influence the economic policy of the country. Consequently, it is rather expected that the banking sector is one of the pioneers and leaders in the issues of corporate governance, but also of corporate social responsibility.This dissertation aims to explore the concepts of corporate governance and corporate social responsibility in Greece and especially in the banking sector.
