Frequency and effects of long-term Covid in Greece, Europe and internationally
Summary:
Purpose: The Covid-19 pandemic has determined the urgent need for rapid and effective multi-level research to address it. The emergence of the effects of long-term Covid was another phenomenon that needed to be studied and understood by the international community. There are many who after the disease reported a large number of symptoms from various systems of the human body and for this reason it is important to investigate the frequency and effects of long-term Covid.

Methodology: This study is retrospective and aims to refer to what we already know from previous research in order to draw conclusions, understand the results and discuss possible shortcomings and issues that need further investigation.

Results: Fatigue, shortness of breath, myalgias, arthralgias, persistent cough are some of the most frequent symptoms observed in long-term Covid and their proportions are almost the same around the world. Informing Covid-19 survivors about the symptoms of long-term Covid and how to deal with it is lacking and the effects on public health, economy and stability seem to be taking on large proportions.

Conclusions: The need to understand the mechanism of action of long-term Covid so that it can be treated easily and quickly is imperative and informing the population about the phenomenon and the ways to treat it is of primary importance.
