Sleep disorders, as a predictor of ICU admission
Summary:
Sleep is a basic axis of human existence. The lack or poor quality of sleep, expressed as a sleep disorder, mainly insomnia and sleep apnea, have serious effects on the health and productivity of the individual. In addition, there is an increase in the frequency of traffic and work accidents, due to sleepiness.
The ICU is a special department of the hospital, where emergency and intensive care ser- vices are provided to seriously ill patients. Provides 24-hour nursing and medical monitor- ing and support of the patient's essential organs, if required.
In this thesis we will review the prevalence of sleep disorders in patients admitted to the ICU.
