Monotheism and the Deviations from it in Biblical Israel between 1100-586 BCE (Historical, Theological and Archaeological Approach)
Summary:
This paper deals with the issue of monotheism and the deviations from it in biblical Israel in the period between 1100-586 BC, a subject already known to the scholars around the world.
Initially, the examined subject will be approached from the perspective of history and theology by quoting biblical passages where the historical-religious situation of each period is set forth. Then the examination of the issue of monotheism and its deviations will be examined from the perspective of archaeology with reference to various archaeological sites which confirm the presence of syncretism in the years 1100-586 BC. Finally, in the Conclusions will be emphasized the great importance of the fruitful dialogue between the finds and the biblical text, something which constitutes the golden mean in the research of the religious situation of the above period.
