Summary:

The present master thesis deals with the issue of teaching Greek folk singing based on the decision of the Greek Ministry of Culture regarding the operation of Schools for Folk Music and with the aim of obtaining a Diploma. It focuses on Greek folk singing and explores ways of teaching through field research.
Specifically, this paper analyses the Ministry's decision with regard to Greek folk singing. That is, the theoretical and compulsory courses that the student should be taught, how the curriculum should be divided in relation to theory, in how many years and how the student should be tested in order to be able to obtain a Diploma. In addition, the entire theoretical background of Greek folk singing is analyzed through literature sources, and ways and techniques of teaching are suggested. Also, indicative lists of songs in 4 grades and 8 years are presented, based on the song syllabus of the Ministry's decision. Finally, the samples of the survey carried out with 6 teachers of Greek folk singing are analyzed, a survey on the basis of which this paper comes to conclusions and ways of teaching Greek folk singing.
