Knowledge, attitude and common practices of adult greek population about migraine

Migraine is a chronic episodic neurological disorder characterized by a myriad
of neurological symptoms including multi-phase attacks of headache,
photophobia and dizziness. To the best of our knowledge, there are no studies
conducted about the knowledge, the attitudes and common practices towards
migraine in Greece. This study aims to determine the knowledge, the attitude
and the common practices of adult Greek population towards migraine. The
study utilized a 57-item self-administered survey questionnaire divided into 5
sections: demographic data, migraine history, knowledge questions about
migraine, perception about migraine and common practices. The total number
of participants is 111, it was found that 35.1% of the subjects were aged
between 26 and 35 years. 39.6% were married, and 39.6% resided in urban
areas. Furthermore, 33.3% reported a monthly income ranging between 800
and 1200 euros. Among the participants, 36.9% had a positive family history of
migraine and 30.6% answered positively that they suffered from headaches.
The present study demonstrated a lack of knowledge for migraine in the adult
Greek population.
