The parents' role in the development of young tennis players
Summary:
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effects of parental involvement on young tennis players. In the research that was used in the context of the literature review used as a methodology, the relevant information was obtained from the athletes themselves and from their coaches. It was found that financial, emotion-al, and logistical support, cultivating appropriate attitudes, values, and habits, fostering accountability, working with the coach while recognizing distinct roles, and emphasizing effort were all examples of positive parenting behaviors. Con-versely, excessive emphasis on winning, critical comments, cultivating unattain-able goals, exerting pressure, and over-involvement emerged as examples of negative parenting behaviors. The conclusions of the research demonstrate the necessity of appropriate parental guidance in order to contribute in a positive way to the upward trajectory of young tennis players.
