Summary:
The present thesis on the subject "The establishment of the institution of the People's Legislative Initiative in the E.U. and in the National Constitutions of its Member-States" is organized into two parts.

Initially, after the Introduction and the brief overview of the guidelines of the work, follows the First Part, which examines the evolutionary course of the institution of the People’s Legislative Initiative in the light of "historical institutionalism" and its integration into the legal order of a significant number of EU. At the same time, an attempt is made to verify relations of complementarity/contradiction with the institution of the Referendum, due to their "ancestral" relationship with the state of "Participatory Democracy".

In the Second Part, the role of the People's Legislative Initiative as an "organizational" and "fundamental" constant of the European Union institutional edifice is first examined, in the context, among other things, of the EU endeavour, for the elimination of its "democratic deficit. In addition, the differences between the rules EU Directives governing the "procedural dimension" of the institution from its initial implementation (2011) to its recent revision (2019) are highlighted.

In conclusion, all the People’s Legislative Initiatives that have either been submitted for approval or have been approved/rejected by the Commission or withdrawn in accordance with the will of their organizers are presented.

In the final part of the paper, improvement proposals are submitted for the institution of the People’s Legislative Initiatives.
