Issues of autobiography and the representation of history and otherness in Elias Venezis' trilogy: Aioliki Gi, Galini and To Noumero 31328
Summary:
Elias Venezis, born in Asia Minor, highlighted with his trilogy To Noumero 31328, Galini and Aioliki Gi, through the experience, aspects of the history of modern Greece. In these three literary works, that are united through his memory, the author purely and authentically presents his experiences seen through the trauma of Asia Minor Hellenism. In this thesis, an attempt is made to collect and comprehensively render elements of the author's autobiography in the Trilogy embedded in the historical context of the era of each work. At the same time, the issue of identity and otherness is raised through the prism of the "other" that is presented in each work in a different form. A variety of narrative choices comes to enhance Venezis power of expression , who depicts the trauma, the memory, the struggle and the strength of the Greeks of Asia Minor who, sometimes as prisoners, sometimes as refugees or earlier as natives of Aeolia, spread humanitarian messages against bipolarity, intolerance, fanaticism and war.
