Multiple sclerosis and pregnancy: Α systematic review of bibliography
Summary:
The purpose of this thesis is to review the literature on the data that exist for the relationship between multiple sclerosis and pregnancy. In particular, the period before pregnancy, the topic of fertility, the bidirectional relationship between multiple sclerosis and pregnancy, the availability and the choice of using immunomodulatory drugs (during pregnancy, pregnancy and breastfeeding) ,the treatment of relapses of the disease during pregnancy and breastfeeding, the choice of mode of delivery and obstetric anesthesia, and the period of breastfeeding are discussed. The lack of education, especially regarding treatment options during pregnancy, is a major cause of concern among women with multiple sclerosis. During the preconception period, the period of pregnancy and the period after childbirth, there is a need to control the activity of the disease while simultaneously avoiding the possible risks for the mother and the fetus.
