Health unit management using information systems

This study focuses on the management of healthcare units with the support of information systems, specifically on their use to enhance the effectiveness and quality of healthcare services. The work initially analyzes Electronic Health Information Systems (EHIS), examining their definitions, characteristics, and requirements for effective health data management. Furthermore, it explores the application of Big Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the healthcare sector and how these technologies can enhance health information systems.
The study also examines the use of the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) in healthcare and its integration with other new technologies, as suggested by the Gnosis platform. It reviews the current state of health information systems in Greece and their application in managing healthcare units, with a focus on improving service quality and decision-making.
The analysis demonstrates that the integration of Big Data Analytics and AI in combination with PACS can lead to significant improvements in information management and the quality of healthcare services. However, it highlights the need for further enhancements, such as the development of practical outcome indicators, improvement in information presentation, and strengthening decision support for healthcare professionals. Overall, the study concludes that their effective integration will contribute to enhancing the overall quality and efficiency of the healthcare system.
