Pharmacogenomics and recurrent miscarriages
Summary:
A miscarriage is defined as the loss of three or more consecutive pregnancies. They are a heterogeneous condition that has many possible causes, while many factors may contribute to their occurrence. Some of these factors may be genetic, anatomical and endocrinological, however in many cases the causes remain unknown.
One of the sciences that is constantly flourishing and obtaining solutions to various health issues is the science of Pharmacogenomics, which uses a patient's genomic data to better administer treatment or determine a patient's predisposition to a particular genetic disease, with the ultimate aiming to improve the quality of life.
The goal of Pharmacogenomics-Pharmacogenetics is the study of the molecular and immunological mechanisms related to recurrent miscarriages. It seems that the formation of a genetic profile based on the polymorphisms which are located in different immune genes, helps to better treat women with recurrent miscarriages.
