The evolution of adolescent pregnancy as a medical and social phenomenon and the dilemma of the final decision of the minor pregnant woman in Greece: Abortion or Childbirth?
Summary:
This thesis investigates the phenomenon of teenage pregnancy in the context of the Greek reality. More specifically, through the study of adolescence, its characteristics and the de-velopments that occur during this period, it was attempted to approach and understand the phenomenon of teenage pregnancies in general. Then, the analysis turned to the study of teenage pregnancy particularly in Greece. The reasons for the observed increase in the phe-nomenon, the options given to the teenage girl for the established pregnancy as well as their consequences, were researched and analyzed. Finally, the importance of prevention in re-ducing the prevalence of the phenomenon was emphasized. In conclusion. The results show that the inappropriate contraceptive behavior adopted by teenagers in their sexual relation-ships is the main reason for the increase in the phenomenon in the country and this behavior is mainly due to the lack of sexual education.
