Summary:
The influence of the environment on human health is well known since the time
of Hippocrates. Our living conditions, even the air we breathe and the water we
drink, are influenced by the evolution of technology and science, positively
and negatively. The quality of the environment is deteriorating and we need to
find ways to change that. The urban environment, as well as the rural
environment have been affected by the technological development. We have to
adhere to certain rules in order to avoid, as far as possible, negative
effects. The relationship between work and health is very important. The work
affects health directly and indirectly, but health also affects the work. The
daily work occupies a large part of people's lives, but often depends on our
health status. There are some measures that can give employees the opportunity
to enhance their performance at work and minimize the impact of adverse factors
on their health. Workplaces are preferential places for the development of
health promotion programs, as people spend one third of their lives at
workplaces. In our country such a program is implemented under the
responsibility of the National Network on Health Promotion in the Workplace, in
which participate important public and private companies and organisms.
