Languages:
English
Summary:
This dissertation aims to research political and social developments in Modrn Greece nad Modern Turkey by employing recent theoretical paradigms coming from the fields of political science, sociology and history (historiography). Its
strarting point is the re-examination of the famous scheme "Traditionalists vs.
Modernizers" developed by several academics who study political developments with regard to the evolving relationship between politics and culture. It intends to show that both the Greek and Turkish Nations can be better understood, concerptualized and analyzed as "Zones of cultural conflict".
Therefore it moves a step further than cultural dualism and explores cultural conflict in its dialectic servise.
