Trends in the historiography of Chinese Mathematics
Summary:
The present work presents the Chinese mathematics, according to the information
that exists in the works, mainly by European Historians of mathematics. This
work is divided in three units: the historiographical, the presentation of
techniques and in the third part, there is a discussion on the matter of proof.
More specifically, this work starts with a report of the historians who worked
on the Chinese mathematics from the 18th century until today and continues with
the presentation of the ancient Chinese books and the techniques, that are
included in those books and with which Europe had worked. In Closing, there is
a discussion on the notion of proof.
