Algorithms for cluster-based random access to the radio access channel in machine-to-machine communication environments
Summary:
A general need that should be covered in 5G systems is the support of a big
number of simple devices, which transmit asyncronously a small amount of data.
The communication of these devices with the network is defined as Machine Type
Communication (MTC or Machine-to-Machine,M2M). Every device communicate with
the network through the Random Access Channel (RACH), in order to ask for
resources to transmit the data. But this channel is designed for covering only
the needs of human communications (H2H) and not machine communications and as a
result there are many collisions in applications and delay in communication.

This Thesis targets in research, design and development of algorithms of
cluster-based random-access in order to reduce these collisions. For this
reason scenarios have been created to simulate the the communication between
machines and show its problems. Many changes have been made in simualtor and
the new scenarios have been created , that verify that the changes are correct,
operational and applicable and they are not only in theory.
