Development of a mobile application that monitors the road network quality using smartphones

The subject of this thesis is to develop an application in android environment
that uses
the smartphone’s sensors and location services in order to analyze, record and
visualize data about the quality of the road network.
Specifically, the device’s acceleration sensor is used wherein after processing
the
measurements and in conjunction with the geographic location of the user, the
resulting
data is being recorded in the database and presented on a map (google maps). The
purpose of this thesis is to test the application using a collection of
different devices and
vehicles, as well as to draw conclusions on the results.
Finally possible usages of the application will be discussed including
extensions of it in
the real world.
