Summary:
The writing of dissertations in the context of Graduate Curriculum is a necessary process which requires obtaining information through databases on the object being studied.
The access in a central, reliable and internet accessible service such as the National Archive of PhD has huge benefits for the scientific-research community and the public, as it is a source of information for the PhD and gives the opportunity to raise the scientific research results.
The purpose of this Bibliographic Presentation is to identify, record and classify by scientific field and by author Dissertations of the National Archive of PhD of the Νational Documentation Centre, which would seem useful in the preparation of the dissertation, which must be submitted by students of the PSP "Environmental Management Strategies, Crisis and Disaster" in management, during their studies.
Its ambition is to collect and record the existing literature of all the Dissertations of the National Archive of PhD in Greece and abroad and trade the object of the PSP, hoping to provide a useful and reliable tool for students by being a source of information and helping students that search for bibliographic data.
The work includes information on Digital Libraries and Digital Repositories and the role they play today. A brief presentation of National Archive of PhD describes the importance and necessity of such a body and then summarizes the purpose served by the creation of Graduate Curriculum dealing with the Crisis Management and Disaster and their necessity in everyday life of modern society.
Wanting to make good use of the valuable tool that the National Archive of PhD provides us, we created two lists. The first concerns the Dissertations for every scientific field exactly as categorized by the National Archive of PhD and included in scientific fields such as Science, Social Sciences, Humanities, Agricultural Sciences, Health Sciences and Sciences of Engineering and Technology. The second list includes the same Dissertations alphabetically by author.
Trying to be as exact and comprehensive as possible in the collection, the search and categorization-classification of the Dissertations happened in two ways. The first was carried out by examining the tasks one by one, a process which required some time but brought satisfactory results. The second method involved the search of keywords, a process known for effectiveness in collecting bibliographic information. The final results showed 329 Dissertations in a total of about 35000 projects on the subject of the PSP “Environmental Management Strategies, Crisis and Disaster.
Finally, the statistics and the results obtained by completing the task, which show the need for creating more PSP that deal with issues concerning our society and its protection through the Crisis Management and Disaster are presented..
