Μελέτη εγκυρότητας του ερωτηματολογίου STAR σε ειδικό ελληνικό πληθυσμό με διάγνωση αγχώδους διαταραχής
Translated title:
Validity study of STAR questionnaire in a special Greek population diagnosed with anxiety disorder
Summary:
In recent years the interest has turned in detecting those factors that are likely to lead people to aggression. The Situational Triggers of Aggressive Responses (STAR) is a 22-item self-report questionnaire which measures the tendency of individuals to exhibit aggression after frustrations and provocations. It has been standardized in the general population with satisfactory validity and reliability indicators. The purpose of this research is the validity study of STAR in a specific population and particularly in people with an anxiety disorder, as people of this panel often exhibit anger experiences. Alongside with this was investigated the possible relationship between the two dimensions of this questionnaire with other variables such as self-esteem, social skills and the locus of control. The study sample consisted of 40 adults diagnosed with an anxiety disorder who were treated by a mental health specialist. The results show that the questionnaire maintains its high reliability in the studied specific population. The two dimensions of STAR show high but not absolute link between them, result that comes in complete agreement with that of previous studies. Finally, it was shown that people with anxiety symptoms tend to experience greater aggressiveness compared with the general population, under provocation and does not differ under frustration.
