Dielectric Sprectroscopy of composite material Carbon Nano-Onions: polyaniline
Summary:
Τhe present study examines a composite material made of carbon nano-onions and polyaniline in three dimensions and in two dimensions. Through dielectric spectroscopy, we examine the above two cases in a field of frenquencies from 10^(-3) to 10^(6) Ηz and with temperatures from 16 K to environmental temperature. Upon elaborating on quantification of our data, we present our remarks on the effect of temperature on the dielectric dispersion and on the conductivity of the carriers of the two composite materials. After having compared the results, we analyse our data and compare the value of dielectric constant with the structure of carbon nano-onions. According to the above, we conclude that the composite material we study provides a multilayer capacitor, contrary to the second material which does not manifest the same properties. Our results for the first composite material derive from the material's dualism of conductivity and capacity, namely its capability to accumulate and conduct electrons. Therefore, it can be utilized as a supercapacitor electrode. These composite materials are of scientific interest, since they are water-soluble and could be used in scientific research as biocompatible electrodes. They also apply in medicine and therapeutics.
