Summary:
At a time of socio-economic upheavals, education is the cutting edge of every change and plays a crucial role, contributing not only to current social, political, economic and cultural development but also to the foundation of spirit, knowledge and skills, so that young people In future, be able to cope with globalization and the speed of the changes that characterize the world today. In this context, it is necessary to improve the quality of the education provided, and there is a great deal of interest in our country as well as internationally around the issues of the educational evaluation.

The purpose of this paper is to better understand the past in order to interpret the current landscape as it has been formed around the question of evaluation at issue and to propose solutions. Thus, a conceptual approach to the term of the educational evaluation is made, its species are listed and international trends are recorded. Then there is a historical review of the institution of evaluation in Greece from the constitution of the Greek state to the present day and the difficult task of institutionalizing an evaluation system in our country is being studied. At the same time, attempts and attitudes to and against the institution are attempted and its necessity is emphasized, mainly through the effects of its lack. Then, through the analysis of all the parameters, the proposals for the successful implementation of the evaluation measure are highlighted and finally the conclusions are reported.

It is pointed out that the crown of the change in educational reality is the application of the self-evaluation of the teacher, as it promotes the evaluation policy itself, creating the necessary consciousness and culture through personal engagement. Through a systematic, comprehensive and consistent training that will provide guidance and feedback to the process of development of the critically-minded teacher, it will progressively cultivate and mature an evaluation culture, evolving the educational community with a positive result in society as well.
