Summary:
The present study focuses on the phenomenon of school bullying
among children of forth, fifth and sixth grade of elementary schools of Attiki
and kefalonia area. At a theoretical aspect we dealt with the definition of
bullying, the forms, the people involved in it, the places which takes place, the
teachers’ role, the factors which affect the victimization, as well as
concequences that brings up. Also, international programs were studied of
prevention and intervention. Aim of the study was to search the frequency of
the phenomena of bullying, the most frequent kinds which are presented to
the students, the places which takes place the incidents, as well as the
teachers’ immediate response after they get informed about an incident. The
research based on the Olweus’ questionnaire on bullying for students (2006),
on a sample of 241 students, of which 120 were boys and 121 were girls.
The statistical analysis of the data showed a positive attitute of children
forward school. Also it seemed that they have lots of friends, something that
shows the favourable environment that is present. A greater frequency of
victimization was shown in girls than in boys. With the reference to the type of
victimization the lectual bullying was presented. As well as the places that
bullying presented, more frequently were found in the school yard, the
classroom and halls – stairs. Children were satisfied from the teachers’
immediate intervention.
From this study, it was clear that most of the people present at the
insident, were not involved in it. At the same time they stated that they felt
sympathy for the victim, and a tendency to help.
