Summary:
In the present study will attempt, in principle, a historical approach of recruitment systems in the Greek public administration and to the establishment of the Supreme Personnel Selection Council in 1994. Subsequently, it will become a reference to this operation and its contribution to staffing public sector. Extensive reference will be made and in another very important administrative reform, the establishment of the National School of Public Administration with the aim of 'creating' senior civil servants.
Particular reference will be made in the comparative analysis and presentation of these two reforms, especially in so far their contribution to the objective of the Public Administration, which is none other than the public interest. Typically, the major concern that will be exhibited will concern to the need of the two rementioned institutions in modern Greek reality, due to the effect of economic and social crisis.
A conclusion of this study is that the staffing of the public sector with high-quality human resources, contributes to enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of public services
