Summary:
The central idea that my post- graduate paper deals with is the ideological use of historic expressions in the speeches of the participants of the National Assembly "in Athens" during the years 1862- 1864. The novelty lies in the extensive analysis of numerous historic references. The main research covers the period from December 10th 1862 to November 1864 with King George A' taking the oath and swearing faith in the Constitution during that session of the Assembly. The first of the two sections of the paper deals with the conditions that led to the voting of the Constitution of 1864, starting with the election of King Otto (Protocol 1st/ 13th of February 1830), the Vice-royalty that followed, the Absolute Monarchy (1835- 1843), the Constitutional Monarchy (1844- 1862) and up to the dethronement of King Otto (October 10th 1862). The paper, additionally, will be focusing on the Three- member Provisional Government ( D. Voylgaris, K. Kanaris, Ben. Roufos) from its beginning (October 11th 1862) to the general operations. In the second part of the paper historical references are reported, quoted by the representatives of the B' National Assembly. Particularly, there will be detailed analysis of the persons that participate in these Assemblies, the reason why they make use of the particular citations, the style used and finally if and how these quotes influenced their final decisions. Actually, the references begin since ancient times and continue throughout the Roman and Byzantine period, the English Revolution (16th Cent.), the French Revolution (1789), the Greek Revolution (1821), the era of Kapodistria (1828- 1832) and finally the Revolution of September 3rd 1844. Finally, the references are related to the Revolution of the Masses (1848), the Revolution of October 10th and come to an end with the Revolution of Nafplion (February 1st 1862).
