The utilization of a microcosm and Web 2.0 tools in the EFL. The role of the gender as a significant factor in this teaching process.
Summary:
The scope of this thesis was the development of a methodology in order to analyze the effectiveness of the digital tools in order for students to reject the social stereotypes concerning the inequality of the two genders. In addition to this, the degree to which the digital tools supported the familiarity with the foreign language was examined, as well as the degree to which a microcosm constitutes a means of meaning generation and processing for the creation of artifacts.
For that purpose, there were carried out two implementations-phases during which the students carried out the activities of the specific research in order for some conclusions to come out concerning the research questions. More specifically, these activities included the projection and creation of advertisements and the chatting and writing of a summary in the E-slate environment.
The conclusions that were drawn from the specific investigation are that the subjects of the research and mainly the boys restructured their opinion about the abilities of females, while at the same time the digital tools supported mainly the familiarity with the foreign language and the meaning generation and processing.
