Summary:
The present study reviews the literature regarding the relationship between career decision-making difficulties, career adaptability and learning styles. A research was conducted to examine the contribution of these personal characteristics in the career development and the career decision process of adolescents with and without learning disabilities. The Career Decision-making Difficulties Questionnaire (CDDQ), the Career Adapt-Abilities Scale (CAAS) and the Learning Style Inventory (KLIMAS) were administered to a sample of 44 high school students with learning disabilities and 44 high school students without learning disabilities. The research results indicate that being assimilator and converger were predictor factors of career adaptability for the group of students with learning disabilities, while being assimilator and accommodator were predictor factors of career adaptability for the group of students without a learning disabilities certification. Career decision-making difficulties showed no significant relationship with neither learning styles nor career adaptability. The findings are discussed with reference to the Career Construction Theory. Implications for research, education and career counselling for both students with or without learning disabilities are also discussed.
