Planning and licensing of wind farms
Summary:
The purpose of this thesis is to present the planning and licensing procedure for wind farms in Greece. Greece is a country with a high wind and solar energy potential. At the same time renewable energy is environmentally friendly and is regarded as an innovative way to meet energy demand. This is the reason why the EU boosts investments on this field and sets a legislative framework for an Energy Union, which will be less dependent on fossil fuel imports and more dependent on green energy, produced and consumed within the European "borders". This thesis describes and explains the European and Greek energy legislation and analyses the steps an investor has to follow in order to plan, licence and finally operate a wind farm in Greece.
