The relevant market as an application term of the E.U. competition law
Summary:
The precise definition of the relevant market is a crucial step towards the application of the rules of the EU competition law. This thesis examines the different importance of the definition of the relevant market in the case of application of Articles 101 and 102 TFEU, but also in the merger control procedure. In this latter case, the analysis of the relevant market is dictated by the notion of the dominant position caused by a concentration as the most usual criterion of competition's state play restriction. At the same time, an examination, through the case law, of the range of the relevant markets takes place at a time of continuous integration of the internal market, technological development and liberalization of markets.
