Mobile application of the national blood donor registry about the blood donors associations

The present dissertation focuses on Mobile Health, a dedicated sub segment of Electronic Health. The use of electronic, computational and communication systems in health services is deemed now days as a necessity, while the contribution of Electronic Health is already highly acknowledged abroad improving the effectiveness, reliability and flexibility of the organizations or companies who implement it. The applications that relate to health and the medical profession constitute the most popular application categories utilized daily by millions of mobile phone users. As the number of available applications increases, the European Union enacts laws in order to ensure the proper functioning of Electronic Health and to enable the citizens to enjoy the full benefits from its implementation.
This dissertation first presents a theoretical approach on the subject by analyzing the relative terminology and then proceeds to analyze the technical details of creating an application of the National Blood Donor Registry about the Blood Donors associations. For the comprehensive and thorough presentation of the subject a bibliographic review was carried out concerning the information systems used in hospitals in Greece and abroad, the organization and operation of the national center responsible for coordinating blood donations (ETHNIKO KENTRO AIMODOSIAS – E.KE.A.) through the years and also the overall approach regarding blood donations.
The second part of this paper deals with the analysis and presentation of every component of the application, its advantages and disadvantages as well as any future updates.
Significant importance was placed in the implementation phase of the application that will provide the capability of collecting in an organized system all data gathered by the blood donation associations and will contribute in the modernization of the process regarding blood donation by utilizing modern technology. Moreover a special emphasis was placed on the system’s security with access, only to authorized users, while ensuring data security and confidentiality.
