Content and exercise of the EU's common commercial policy.

Since the entry into force of the Treaty establishing the European Economic Community in 1958, the common commercial policy of the EU has been modified many times in order to adapt to the new reality of international trade and economic relations.
The Lisbon Treaty has made very important changes in the field of the common commercial policy, both at the substantive and the institutional level, in order to strengthen its coherence and effectiveness and to address the issue of the Union's democratic deficit.
This work is an attempt to outline the content and the exercise of the European Union's common commercial policy, as expressed in Articles 206 and 207 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. The study is structured in two parts,namely the objectives and the instruments of the common commercial policy.
The first part deals with the objectives and principles governing the Union's action in the field of the common commercial policy , the evolution of the Union's competence in this area as well as with its limitations, and finally with the scope of the common commercial policy.
The second part deals with the decision-making process for the adoption of the Union's trade measures, the typology of these measures, the choice of the appropriate legal basis for adopting such measures, and finally with the judicial review of these measures.
