Summary:
This paper analyzes the competition issues arisen since the emerge of the new economic model of Sharing Economy, as this disruptive innovation evolved in recent years. The main focus of the paper is put on the two leaders of this economy, Uber and Airbnb, which have already gained significant power in the global market, and the legal nature of their operations. Competition law issues, unfair commercial practice concerns and regulatory challenges arising from the abovementioned platforms' operation and this new economic model in general are thoroughly discussed.
