The notion of virtue in the philosophy of Aristotle.
Summary:
The following dissertation deals with the notion of virtue in Aristotelian philosophy. More specifically, there will be a presentation of the notion of the virtue as explained by Aristotle and interpreted by Plato. In addition, the branches of virtue, namely moral and intellectual virtues, will be analyzed. Aristotle's and Plato's opposing views on the idea of good will be examined and there will be a focus on the analysis of hapiness as the highest human good considering the fact that it is an important part. Furthemore, there will be a discussion on the human soul, the tripartite division of the soul first as it was emphasized by Plato and then the division by Aristotle who took into consideration Plato's words but also made considerable changes. Additionally, the concept of morality as a remarkable part of virtue that could not be comprehensively explained to people will be presented. In conclusion, the concepts of power and energy will be studied according to Aristotle based on the fact that they are equally notable.
