Summary:
This study attempts an initial approach to Greek theater for underage viewers at the turn of the 20th to the 21st century, which is directly related to issues of identity and diversity. It deals with the construction of the identity and the concept of otherness by studying views and theories for the development of the child. The identity of the characters as they perceive themselves, but also as it is shaped in relation to the others, is studied. This work deals with concepts such as racism and xenophobia, stereotypes and prejudices, immigration, disability, gender and equality issues, and how these appear in theater for underage viewers. Opinions of contemporary well-known writers of theatrical plays for underage viewers are presented and the pedagogical dimension and exploitation of the theater for underage viewers in the acceptance of otherness are studied.
