"Digital games about Science for Kindergarten: Evaluation and Depository"
Summary:
The purpose of this research is to collect and evaluate Digital Games related
to Science that can be used in kindergarten. The assessment of games concerns age
adequacy and social inappropriateness, fun and playability. There are three stages in
the evaluation of Digital Games: 1. Evaluation based on the criteria of the PEGI
Standard and the selected criteria of the project EPINOHSH, 2. Evaluation based on
playability criteria of LAITINEN et.al and 3. Evaluation by teachers by filling out
questionnaires. The first two stages are based on the researcher's theoretically
framed subjective view, knowledge and experience. The third step is to confirm or
not the previous stages of the investigation. Initially, 167 games were gathered from
which 107 passed the first phase of the survey. After the second evaluation stage, 53
games were evaluated by the educators. The final stock created includes 18 digital
games that are concidered appropriate and useful for the educational process and
for further investigation. Finally, 2 scenarios of exploiting 2 Digital Games of the
stock are proposed.
