Generalized Dimensional Reductions of the Scherk-Schwarz type
Summary:
A generalized method of dimensional reduction is presented. Contrary to the usual approach, fields are allowed to depend on the coordinates
of the internal space. As a result, some of the fields of the reduced theory become massive, while the gauge symmetry of the theory becomes non-Abelian with the mass parameters acting as the structure constants. We study conditions for a well-behaved potential as well as the effects of the generalized dimensional reduction on Yang-Mills and Kalb-Ramond matter fields.
